STCW 1995 Information

On January 1, 2001 LISCR started issuing STCW 1995 officer certificates of competency. The following information is provided to assist filing agents and seafarers who need to obtain Liberian certificates.

1. To get a NEW STCW 1995 Liberian officer’s endorsement, the following must be submitted:
a. RLM-105: Application for officer’s certificate of competency;
b. New Fee: US$275;
c. 2 Pictures (1.75” x 1.75”);
d. Current physical within the last 12 months;
e. Copy of national passport;
f. Copy of your STCW 1995 national certificate;
g. Copy of all seatime acquired within the last 5 years;

 

2. To renew based on a completion of STCW 1995 courses and a valid Liberian certificate (obtained by Liberian examination), the following will need to be submitted:
a. RLM-105: Application for officer’s certificate of competency;
b. Upgrade Fee: US$275;
c. 2 Pictures (1.75” x 1.75”);
d. Current physical within the last 12 months;
e. Copy of national passport;
f. Copy of your STCW 1978, as amended, Liberian certificate;
g. Basic training or personal safety and social responsibilities course completion certificate(s);
h. Advanced firefighting course completion certificate;
i. Advanced first aid course completion certificate;
j. Survival craft/rescue boat course completion certificate;

Furthermore, navigational officers must also submit the following:

k. GMDSS certificate;
l. Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA) course completion certificate;
m. Bridge resource management training course completion certificate; and
n. Medical care course completion certificate (Required for Master and Chief Mate ONLY).
